About this tutorial

Welcome to Part 3 of my Torch Fire series!

In this tutorial, we bring our torch to life by attaching it to a character’s hand in Unreal Engine 5.7. After creating the flame, smoke, and embers in the previous parts, it’s time to make the torch fully interactive.

You’ll learn how to properly attach the torch to a character socket, set up a believable holding pose, and blend the torch-holding animation with your character’s movement using Animation Blueprints.

  • Creating and positioning a hand socket
  • Attaching the torch to the character
  • Setting up a torch-holding animation
  • Using Layered Blend Per Bone for upper-body animation
  • Blending movement with the torch-hold pose

By the end of this video, your character will be able to carry the torch naturally while walking, making the effect ready for gameplay, exploration, or cinematic scenes.
