About this tutorial

Welcome to Part 2 of my Torch Fire series!

In this tutorial, we continue building our realistic torch fire effect in Unreal Engine 5.7 by adding smoke and glowing embers using Niagara.

With the main flame and dynamic lighting already complete from Part 1, we now focus on the secondary effects that bring the torch to life. You’ll learn how to create soft rising smoke, add floating embers, and fine-tune their behavior for a more believable and polished result.

  • Creating a realistic smoke emitter
  • Setting up ember particles in Niagara
  • Adjusting motion, scale, and lifetime
  • Adding variation for a natural look
  • Combining all elements into a complete torch effect

By the end of this video, your torch will feel far more dynamic, atmospheric, and production-ready.

In Part 3, we’ll attach the torch to a character’s hand and blend the holding animation with movement for a fully interactive setup.
